Acute viral meningitis may resolve without any after effects while acute bacterial meningitis can cause more serious after effects and may even cause death.
So what can be done to reduce the chances of meningitis killing someone?
Identifying it early (read our page on signs and symptoms of meningitis), and treating it properly and aggressively will make meningitis less likely to cause death.
The moral of the story is, meningitis can cause death but early identification and treatment can greatly reduce the chances of death from meningitis.
